Poverty is a state subject and it is the responsibility of any government to take measures to reduce and remove it. The Constitution of India as well as some well-thought out and made policies of the government have formed many schemes and programmes towards welfare and relief of its poor and backward population, and have also set parameters and standards for this purpose. Therefore, it is the right of the deserving poor people to obtain the benefits of such schemes and programmes. There are programmes developed by central government and those developed by the state government. However, historically these schemes and programmes have not reached to the deserving people due to the faulty delivery system, adverse attitudes of the officials involved, and the lack of awareness and 'push' in the deserving communities.

In order that the deserving people obtain the benefits of these schemes and programmes, DISHA has been working actively upon it. During the year our workers attached with our different groups and organizations brought awareness about the nitty-gritty of these schemes among the people. They also helped the people on obtaining the necessary forms, necessary documents, in carrying out the required procedures and following up with the concerned departments of the government. The workers helped people obtain the benefits of the following schemes and programmes during the year:
Construction of new wells and deepening of old wells.
